On Saturday 12th October our District team faced Croydon in the Southern Counties Cup at Cockmannings Lane. Our opposition were known to be a very strong side and we knew the game would be a stern test.

By half time, however, we had battled well and restricted Croydon to only one goal. Unfortunately the game rather ran away from us in the second period. At 4-0, down we did manage to score a good goal. James Keyworth picked up a threaded pass from midfield, made space for a shot and finished well, slotting the ball into the corner of the Croydon net.

But the visitors added a further three goals to run out 7-1 winners. All credit to our lads, though. They kept going right to the end. While Croydon were clearly the better side, the scoreline exaggerated the difference between the two sides.
