POOR EFFORT HAMSEY RANGERS 4 TONBRIDGE INVICTA 0 03.11.02 We dare not dwell on the level of performance that we mustered in this League encounter. To say we were not at the races is a distinct understatement! In many ways our effort resembled some of the lack lustre and uncommitted displays that the weaker squad from last season managed, and that is an insult to this group of players. From the first whistle it was clear that we were not going to compete. Hamsey on the other hand were really up for the match and were soon imposing themselves. Some weak defending from midfield and defence led to two soft goals being conceded before 25 minutes was on the clock. The half time team "rant' did engender a slightly better effort in the second half, but an alarming set of weak challenges still allowed Hamsey the time and space to add two further goals. We came back into the game a little towards the end, but by then it was too late and the opposition had in any case taken their foot off the gas. Hamsey were worthy winners and played some nice football alongside their committed ball winning skills. Sometimes players have bad days but a large percentage of the 12 man squad turned in poor performances during this game. The notable exceptions were Neil Wilson end Jason Carroll who worked very hard and did what they could with little support, and Man Of The Match Jamie Hayes who continues to be a shining example to all those around him with his committed efforts. The whole squad must now take responsibility for turning round this most unfortunate, recent deterioration in our results. |
