Text Box: This season promised much but ultimately failed to deliver, which was most disappointing. A combination of false dawns, where players who looked like they would strengthen the squad did not show the commitment required, and, as so often, bad luck, dogged the team effort.

There were positive points along the way — the impressive double over Boston Saints (who were promoted), the first ever victory over local rivals Sutton United and the subsequent draw against them as well, and the 8-4 demolition of Old Leake in March.

Often the team deserved to draw or win but ended up losing because of inexplicable decisions by officials, or momentary lapses at the back which seemed to be punished in disproportionate fashion. Then there were the numerous quite unbelievable conspiracies of circumstances that faced us at times, like the appalling deterioration in the weather in our home game against Ruskington Lions—a game we would easily have won had not the pitch and conditions made the match a total lottery!!

Having said this the lads played some impressive passing football at times, and we can be proud of trying to play the game the right way. The boys who finished up in the squad deserve great credit for sticking with the team through some hairy moments during the year. Many individuals had pleasing campaigns and we look forward to gaining from their development next season.

We had a most pleasant presentation evening on Saturday 26th May with a very good turn out from the boys. Whilst it is important to stress the value of the team effort this season and the fact that every lad’s contribution has been valued, nonetheless the individual awards went as follows:

Manager’s Player: Charlie Clark

Players’ Player: Joe Marshall

Most Improved Player: Charlie Codd Top Goalscorer: Leighton Jarratt

Congratulations to all concerned.

At the end of the season we said goodbye to quite a few players, some of whom had been with us from the beginning, — Noah Best, Luke Durdey, Jim Farnell, Kain Marshall, Bradley McGilloway, Charley McLening, Corey Squire, & Ty Sprigg. We wish them well for the future and thank them sincerely for their services to the side.
